Susanne Radtke is currently a Professor of Graphic and Media Design in the
Digital Media program at the University of Applied Sciences Ulm, Germany. She
earned her undergraduate degree in Visual Communication from the Berlin
University of the Arts and studied with renowned instructors at the Hochschule
für Gestaltung Ulm (HfG), the successor institution to the Bauhaus in Germany
and beyond. After receiving her diploma, she completed her master’s with
supervisory Prof. Herbert W. Kapitzki, the former head of Visual
Communication at the HfG. She is co-author of the textbook for Visual Media
Design, 7th edition, which is required reading at many German design schools.
In 1987, she launched her graphic design office, which she now maintains in
Berlin and Ulm. Furthermore, Professor Radtke has served as manager of the
Steinbeis Consulting Center Intercultural & Corporate Design
(www.steinbeis.de/en/su/2444) since 2022.
Radtke has more than two decades of experience in vocational and extended
design education, working on a related research project at Berlin’s Technical
University and the Association of the Educational Department of Economy for
Berlin and Brandenburg e.V. In addition, she was a Chairman of the Testing
Committee for the German Chamber of Commerce for Media Design in Digital
and Print Media for 10 years. Moreover, as chair of a media program in
cooperation with the Berlin University of the Arts, she developed courses and
workshops for professional artists, designers, and teachers.
For nearly 15 years now, Professor Radtke has been developing and conducting innovative intercultural design workshops (http://intercultural-
design-workshop.com) primarily in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the US. This work is closely tied to her role as the Representative for
International Contacts at her Faculty.
